hello!

This companion blog mainly hosts links that I want to mark for later reference. It's my virtual collection. As I read through literally thousands of blog postings, patterns naturally reveal themselves. Hey, it's a hobby that I enjoy. All links are gathered manually, i.e., I do not use any kind of automated search query. I figure I might as well share what I've found. Plus, I'm using this as a tester blog, so you might see a few oddities from time to time.

online feel-good

Being online seems to hold an increasing amount of negativity these days. In addition to the incomplete breaking news headlines of wars, mass shootings, and economic and political failures, even the inherently feel-good event that is the 2012 Summer Olympics in London has been sensationalized into the cynical. I want to have a list o' links dedicated to those things I find online that are positive, if nothing else, to remind me there is, indeed, good in this world. I plan to keep adding to this post.

Had never heard of Ellie Goulding before this video of "Anything Could Happen". I like the community-contributed concept. Her voice and pop reminds me of Cyndi Lauper in her heyday. The actual lyrics are not sugar-coated, but the music inspires hope: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zvzWsrS3JE

Have always been a fan of Rube Goldberg drawings. Here's another music video, this time by OK Go "This Too Shall Pass": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w

Gotta love a site focused on the feel-good:

This has been a go-to favorite ever since a fellow blogger let me know about this time-lapse photographer and his "The Unseen Sea": http://www.simonchristen.com/index.php?x=video
